ABSTRACT
The extrinsic laryngeal muscles attach the larynx to neighbouring structures and are important laryngeal elevators. The hyoid bone attaches to the larynx, and the pharyngeal inferior constrictor (8) arises from the laryngeal cartilages, so any muscles that elevate the hyoid and pharynx will elevate the larynx.
