ABSTRACT

Carpal instability was not given much attention until the classic papers written by Linscheid et al.1 and Dobyns et al.2

Currently enormous experimental and clinical research has been carried out worldwide on wrist ligamentous injuries and the information has enabled better understanding of the biomechanical properties of the wrist, and diagnosing and treating this condition. Unfortunately, many cases are still missed or neglected and lead to chronic wrist dysfunction. It is then a great challenge for the hand surgeon to restore hand function. In this chapter, we attempt to give an overall description of wrist ligamentous injuries and highlight common injuries.
