ABSTRACT
Wounds caused by guns occur throughout the world. In the developed world, criminal acts increasingly involve the use of firearms, and we are now more than ever in the midst of an epidemic of firearm-related injuries. Wounds which were once rare outside military conflict are now regularly seen in the UK. In 2003, the General Medical Council published Reporting Gun Shot Wounds. Guidance for Doctors in Accident and Emergency Departments in response to this growing problem.
