ABSTRACT

With the increasing threats of new infections and antibiotic resistance of microbes, nding new drugs has never been so pressing. While organic synthesis continues to improve the effectiveness of available drugs, nding new backbones of chemical structures is crucial in the long-term development of effective drugs. Traditionally, soil micro organ isms from terrestrial habitats have been explored for chemical diversity, and many compounds have been isolated and used in the market.1 However, repeated isolation of phylogenetically related organisms may have resulted in compounds with similar physical, chemical, biochemical, or pharmacological properties.
