ABSTRACT
Biosynthetic approaches have been used to discover new marine compounds with medicinal potential, to supply clinically used marine drugs, and to synthesize natural product analogs for drug development. This review aims to summarize essential biosynthetic approaches behind modern marine drug research using examples of their successful application.
