ABSTRACT

If any of the following are noted, a paediatrician should be called to attend the delivery:

fetal distress

abnormal presentation

prolapsed cord

APH

meconium-stained amniotic fluid

forceps/vacuum-assisted delivery (except lift-out procedures, where there is no fetal distress)

CS if performed under general anaesthesia or if there is a fetal indication (e.g. IUGR)

severe pre-eclampsia

drug abuse/addiction by mother

diabetes mellitus

multiple pregnancy

breech vaginal delivery

preterm delivery (<36 weeks)

Rh isoimmunization

fetal hydrops

polyhydramnios

congenital abnormalities

anticipated shoulder dystocia

concern of attending midwife/obstetrician
