ABSTRACT
Most conditions affecting the abdominal wall and groin can be diagnosed by taking a full history and carrying out a careful examination. There are few things more satisfying to the surgeon than to make a precise diagnosis based on anatomical and clinical knowledge alone. Special investigations are rarely required.
