ABSTRACT
Since the installation of the first wind turbine on the Island of Fernando de Noronha nearly twenty years ago (Fig. 14.1), Brazil expanded to 2 508 MW of installed wind power capacity by the end of 2012. Wind power is the fastest growing source of energy generation in the country. Brazilian wind power sector accounts for 70% of total wind power in Latin America.
