ABSTRACT
Fast reactors are a preferred option for effectively utilizing natural nuclear resources, in particular uranium and thorium. With the limited natural uranium available in certain countries, which are relying strongly on nuclear power, fast reactors are essential to meet their growing demands over a long period. This chapter provides the possibilities of a higher growth rate with fast spectrum reactors in terms of effective utilization of uranium and plutonium.
