ABSTRACT

Service-based project leaders are different from project managers. Certainly, not everyone may be called to this type of leadership, but for those who are disenchanted with their project careers, becoming a service-based project leader may just be the answer. In embracing servicebased project leadership, one needs to embrace a framework. A  framework is a real or conceptual structure intended to serve as a support or guide for the building of something that expands the structure into something useful.1 A  framework should provide guidance and structure for building service-based leadership qualities and a level of assessment for evaluating progress. This framework is focused on building the following qualities:

Competence in project management tools and techniques Competence in project application area Trust Shared leadership and decision making Action

With these qualities, one is now adept at combining a variety of situational factors using intuition, good judgment, and experience to make positive events occur.
