21.1 INTRODUCTION

The paper summarizes the basic results of our studies related to further development of known concepts of the chemical physics of polymers and creation of new ones in environment protection and life safety. The scientific novelty of our data is in development of the theory of radical-chain processes of polymer formation on the basis of exploring the gross kinetics of radical polymerization of vinyl monomers, establishment of the mechanisms of elementary reactions of chain initiation, propagation, and termination,

estimation of reactivity parameters of monomers, initiators, and inhibitors in the conditions of homopolymerization and copolymerization in bulk, in solution, and in emulsion in both presence and absence of oxygen. The practical importance of our work includes the development of novel methods to regulate polymerization at its initial stages and at deep conversion degrees, the development of the scientific foundations of environmentally safe technologies and new effective monitoring techniques of the environment status.
