The continuing rise in crude oil prices and the growing responsibility to reduce theemissionsofgreenhousegasesresultedinmanyresearchprojectsto‚ndalternativeseparationprocessestoful‚llthegrowingdemandofole‚nsandtoreduce therelatedenergydemands.Mostattentionispaidtoabsorption-,adsorption-,and membrane-basedprocesses,oftenaidedbyabondingoftheole‚n,forexample,via π-complexation.
