ABSTRACT
Methane, the main component of natural gas, is an interesting source of chemicalsandcleanliquidfuelsandapromisingalternativerawmaterialtooil[1-3]. Althoughconventionallyusedforheatingandelectricalpowergeneration,itsconversionintohighervalueproductshasgainedimportancealongthelastdecades, andthisisduetothefollowingreasons:(1)thecompositionofnaturalgasisvery little dependent on the source, (2) methane has a high hydrogen-to-carbon (H/C) ratio,(3)thepotentialreservesofnaturalgasarelargerthantheoilreserves,especiallyifshalegasisconsidered[4,5].Theextractionofthisso-calledunconventional naturalgas,containedinimpermeableshalerockformations,hasrecentlybecome
