ABSTRACT

This chapter looks into America's cybersecurity policy, particularly via the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI) that was established by George W. Bush's Administration in 2008, to analyze what executions have been in progress. The CNCI's initiatives focus on the major goals of establishing a front line of defense against immediate threats, defending against the full spectrum of threats, and shaping the future environment of cybersecurity. A front line of defense can be created by enhancing shared situational awareness within the federal, state, local, and tribal governments, as well as private-sector partners. The CNCI consists of a number of mutually reinforcing initiatives, including the goal of an all-encompassing government wide integration effort designed to help secure the United States in cyberspace. CNCI Manage the Federal Enterprise Network as a single network enterprise. This includes deploying Trusted Internet Connections by reducing the number of Internet access points to federal agencies. Deploy passive sensors across the federal enterprise.
