ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we provide a detailed description of generalized structured component analysis. We discuss the issues of model specication, parameter estimation, and model evaluation. We demonstrate the use of generalized structured component analysis for the analysis of real data. We also describe theoretical differences and similarities between generalized structured component analysis and several multivariate statistical techniques that involve components or weighted composites of observed variables. Furthermore, we empirically compare generalized structured component analysis with another well-known component-based approach to structural equation modelingpartial least squares path modeling. We provide technical intricacies related to generalized structured component analysis and partial least squares path modeling in Appendices.
