ABSTRACT

The diagram on Figure 21.4 seems to conrm the idea that Facebook is all about user-generated content (UGC). That is, the system works when Internet users send their content, such as pictures, videos, status updates, and messages, to Facebook’s Social Network Engine 106 via Network 104. Though the existence of the content (i.e., the Packaged Payload that encompasses user-generated and user-derived data on Facebook) is implied, the Control functionality is not in the picture at all. Where is it, then? Or maybe, it simply doesn’t exist?
