Synthesis of Bioactive Heterocyclic Systems Promoted by Silica-Supported Catalysts

Heterocyclic compounds are probably the largest and most varied family of organic compounds. Even if only considering the most common heterocyclic elements (oxygen, nitrogen, and sulfur) numerous heterocyclic system combinations are possible (Figure 1.1). This class of compounds is not limited to monocyclic derivatives as there are numerous well-known polycyclic compounds incorporating one or more heterocyclic rings.
