ABSTRACT
Eurocode7Part 1(1.2) (EC7-1, all Eurocodes are referenced in Section 1.5 and Appendix B) does not categorise piles, but Clause 7applies to the design of all types of load-bearing piles. When piles are used to reduce settlement of araft or spread foundation (e.g. Love(2.1)), as opposed to supporting the full load from astructure, then the provisions of EC7 may not apply directly.
