ABSTRACT
A simple and cost-effective way to increase soil fertility and plant growth rates on impoverished tropical soils should have revolutionary impacts by increasing productivity and reducing the need for further deforestation in the warm climate zone where most of the world’s people live. In this report, we present the results of a method that is capable of producing precisely such results by increasing growth rates of trees, grass, shrubs, and crops on severely impoverished soils by more than ‹ve times using locally available basalt rock powder as a natural mineral supplement.
