ABSTRACT
The rst CRC series chapter on Chlamydiae was written by Leslie A. Page and published in 1989. Since then, signicant advances in Chlamydia diagnostics, genomics, pharmacotherapeutics, classication of new species, and bioinformatics have come to light. This chapter provides a review of our current understanding of chlamydial identication while addressing how its classication has evolved to date.
