ABSTRACT
Concerns about the environment have increased in recent years, and those concerns affect plastics and flammability in varied and sometimes unexpected ways.
Concern about the atmospheric ozone layer is resulting in the reduction in the use of chlorofluorocarbons and their replacement with alternate materials. Chlorofluorocarbons, however, contribute to fire resistance, and the alternate materials may contribute less to fire resistance.
