ABSTRACT

This chapter will introduce bio risk management (BRM) training in the context of the CEN Workshop Agreement 15793-Laboratory Biorisk Management as a common risk mitigation strategy. The chapter will also address how effective BRM training can be used to address gaps identified in a risk assessment. This section of the chapter will discuss the ADDIE training development model, which provides a framework for identifying training objectives that should always be directly linked to the risk assessment. This section will clearly show the importance of identifying who to train, ways of delivering training, and what to train in order to achieve the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities. The chapter will end with a consideration of the various types of training strategies, including their advantages and disadvantages.
