Metrology of a drilling operation consists of two closely related parts. The Šrst part is the primary partthatrelatestothevarioustolerancesontheholebeingdrilled.Therefore,theŠrstlogicalpart ofthischapterisdevotedtothesetolerances,theirstandarddesignationsinthepartdrawing,and properinterpretationinpartmanufacturing.Thelatterisvitalintheselectionofthemeasuring equipment,designofpartŠxturesandtoollayouts,andselectionofthepropertoolandmachining regime.
