ABSTRACT
In this chapter we will consider ways in which the location of points on the surface of the Earth can be represented in what are commonly referred to as map projections. The assumption behind the transformations considered in Chapter 10 has been that we have been dealing with straight lines or at surfaces, in effect, a at Earth. When we wish to represent the curved surface of the Earth, we need to take a different approach.
