ABSTRACT
Healthcare improvement, marketing pharmaceutical products, prevention of epidemic diseases, and effective planning for future clinical services are very dependent on how the previous and current trends in the states of the above elements can be described. On the other hand, the adaptive systems for rehabilitation and accident avoidance, including autonomous systems, can gain significantly in places where the future state of the system is accurately estimated. The aim of SSA is twofold:
• To make a decomposition of the original series into a sum of a small number of independent and interpretable components such as a slowly varying trend, oscillatory components and structureless noise;
• To reconstruct the decomposed series so as to make predictions without the noise component.
