ABSTRACT
The immune system is an intricate complex of interrelated cellular, molecular and genetic components that provide the host with a defence against foreign organisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi or from other foreign substances, but also from native cells, e.g., cell fragments from dead cells.
