The available sources for the history of the Flory family in America are especially rich. One source is from The Brethren Encyclopedia.7 Another extensive source results from another current branch of the family and its extensive research, both in Europe and the United States.8 A History of the German Baptist Brethren in Europe and America by Brumbaugh9 was very enlightening. The Flory family is well documented on the genealogical website Ancestry. com.10 Also, the archives of Manchester University were very helpful. The Brethren Historical Collection is a part of the archives.
