ABSTRACT

The systems of uids of practical interest to chemists and chemical engineers are as a rule complex, departing signicantly from ideal-solution behavior. The systems at interfaces are, in addition, inhomogeneous exhibiting density gradients and, when multicomponent, they also exhibit composition gradients or peculiar composition proles across the interfaces. Thus, the development of thermodynamic models for complex uids applicable over a wide range of conditions remains an active and fascinating research area.
