ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the management of selected subtypes of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) from within indolent lymphoma, and aggressive lymphoma and includes both common and uncommon subtypes. NHL refers to a diverse group of malignancies derived from lymphoid tissue consisting of more than 40 different clinicopathological entities. NHL also has an uneven sex distribution with almost all subtypes occurring more frequently in men. Staging of patients with NHL involves performing a thorough history and examination, radiological investigations to determine extent of disease and bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy. BL is a highly aggressive form of NHL and one of the most rapidly proliferating forms of human cancer. The management of NHL associated with HIV infection requires multidisciplinary input from the haemato-oncology team, the treating HIV specialist, pharmacists and infectious disease specialists. NHL is heterogenous group malignancies of lymphoid tissue with different clinical and pathological features.
