ABSTRACT

A fundamental component of the robot is its sensors, which are used for acquiring information about the robot itself and its environment. There are a vast number of sensors available for the robotics and automation industry. Depending on the application, we employ a combination of them in robot design. A detailed description of these sensors and their properties can be found in Soloman (2009) and Fraden (1996). In this chapter, we will discuss sensors commonly used in game robotics and competitions.
