ABSTRACT
If an unsupported slope is not safe it can be supported by a retaining wall. Retaining walls also store water and exclude water from excavations.

Retaining walls are made from mass concrete, steel sheet piles, concrete piles or concrete panels. They may be supported by shear stress on the base, earth pressures in front and by props and anchors.
