ABSTRACT
The authors identify leadership commitment and motivation as the first and, perhaps, most important fundamental essential for creating and sustaining an operational excellence management system (OEMS). In the absence of leadership commitment and motivation, operational excellence will continue to be an elusive goal that is pointless in pursuing. Leadership at all levels of the organization must be committed and motivated for success in driving toward operational discipline and excellence.
