Fish are usually exposed to a huge variety of naturally occurring substances, such as secondary metabolites of fungi, toxins produced by algae, toxins and anti-nutritional factors from higher plants and toxins of molluscs. The most important natural compounds displaying negative effects on carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) will be reviewed below.
