ABSTRACT
IN this chapter, we will outline notions from linear algebra and multivariable calculus thatwill be relevant to our discussion of computational techniques. It is intended as a review of background material with a bias toward ideas and interpretations commonly encountered in practice; the chapter can be safely skipped or used as reference by students with stronger background in mathematics.
