ABSTRACT

The psychopharmacologic medications fall into two major categories as being either:

1. Tranquilizing agents 2. Psychomotor stimulants

Both classes find wide use in modern medical practice. Tranquilizing drugs are used in the treatment of neuroses and psychoses and include such drugs as chlorpromazine and perpanizine, which are both phenothiazine types, plus others such as probamate, adiol, and chlormethazanone, a methathiazanone derivative.
