ABSTRACT
According to the United Nations, “Sustainability calls for a decent standard of living for everyone today without compromising the needs of future generations.” Since the early 1990s, when the concepts of “sustainability” and “sustainable development” became popular, scientists, engineers, and decision makers in dierent elds and sectors have been developing and adopting best management practices (BMPs) in an attempt to preserve the Earth’s resources for future generations and building a better world.
