ABSTRACT
Populations in most urban areas are increasing quickly, and supplying sucient water of good quality is one of the most urgent and signicant challenges faced by decision-makers.
ere are two solutions to ensure sustainably managing shortages in water supply: nding alternate or additional water sources using conventional approaches, or using the limited available supplies more eciently. Rainwater harvesting systems are independent systems, which means that users have the responsibility of operation and maintenance. ey can also avoid many of the environmental problems that can be caused by conventional large-scale water supply projects that use centralized approaches.
