ABSTRACT

Dened as “the controlled use of plant essences for therapeutic purposes,” aromatherapy is becoming increasingly popular (Buckle 2003; Ernst et al. 2006). Aromatic plant essences known as essential oils (EOs) are usually mixed with a vegetable “carrier oil” or diluted in alcohol before application (Natural Standard Research Collaboration 2014). EOs may be administered in a variety of ways, including diffusion devices, steaming water or spray bottles, addition to bath water, or topical
