Conclusion to Part I

The data mining technologies discussed in Part I of this book constitute the technologies of Layer 1 of the data mining framework. These technologies are database management, data warehousing, statistical reasoning, machine learning, visualization, parallel processing, and decision support. In addition, architectural support for data mining is also a supporting technology and is part of Layer 1. Data mining is built on these supporting technologies.
