ABSTRACT
Significant progress has been made on data management systems. However, many of the technologies are still stand-alone technologies as illustrated in Figure A-3. For example, multimedia systems are yet to be successfully integrated with warehousing and mining technologies. The ultimate goal is to integrate multiple technologies so that accurate data, as well as information, is produced at the right time and distributed to the user in a timely manner. Our vision for data and information management is illustrated in Figure A-4.
