ABSTRACT
This chapter presents an overview of the current state of the art of upgrading technology. A detailed description of every process is beyond the scope of this chapter, and for this the reader is referred to the several upgrading handbooks available and the references given for each process (Meyers, 1986; Hydrocarbon Process., 1996). Instead, this chapter will discuss upgrading in terms of the type of technology and the chemistry involved.
