ABSTRACT

Radiographic examinations are more disconcerting than other equine examination procedures, e.g., cardiac, ophthalmologic, lung auscultation, etc. This is true because the radiographic examination produces a permanent record (radiographs) which can be evaluated retrospectively. This radiographic review can determine three important features. These features include: 1) were the radiographs of diagnostic quality? 2) were adequate views taken to sufficiently examine the anatomical region in question? and 3) was the radiographic examination correctly interpreted? Therefore, technical quality pitfalls must be avoided.
