ABSTRACT

Canine stomach worm. Adults attach to antrum of stomach and proximal duodenum. Intermediate host: coprophagous beetles. PPP= 2 to 3 months. Dx: Egg (45 µm long) in feces slightly shorter than hookworm eggs, very clear, with a relatively thick shell containing a larva. Adult Habitat: Stomach and proximal small intestine. Similar Species: Related species occur in other canines, cats, foxes, skunks, and raccoons. Range: World. Clinical Signs: Vomiting. Tx: No approved drug. Heartworm preventatives do not prevent infection. Treatments appearing efficacious:
