ABSTRACT

Advances in flow measurement diagnostics has allowed fluid mechanics researchers to come closer to the ultimate experimental scenario of fully resolved flow information over a volume of the flow as the flow changes in time. While this has yet to be achieved, advances in measurement hardware have allowed the development of techniques that capture a snapshot of flow properties over a two-dimensional area. One of these, planar Doppler velocimetry (PDV)) ·4 is a velocity measurement technique that is capable of measuring the three instantaneous components of velocity over a two dimensional plane.
