ABSTRACT
This chapter covers some fundamental aspects of probability and statistics as a precursor to random vibrations (Chapter 12). As was the case for Chapters 2 and 3, however, the treatment of the subject is such that – in the author’s hope – it may also provide a useful source of reference for more advanced and specialised literature.
