ABSTRACT
To ensure proper performance in the unit, the hydrocracking catalyst is submitted to a series of analyses and tests. Characterization and testing of hydrocracking catalysts is of crucial importance for both the catalyst manufacturer and the refiner. The catalyst manufacturer uses the evaluation to ensure that the manufactured catalysts are in compliance with established quality specifications. He also uses it in the development of new catalysts, designed to meet changing market demands. The refiner uses the evaluation to monitor the properties of fresh and spent catalysts from his refinery. Furthermore, he uses it to compare the quality of catalysts obtained from different suppliers.
