ABSTRACT
Oxidation reactions are discussed in Chapter 17, and they involve the loss of two electrons, although oxidations are also associated with the loss of hydrogen atoms or the gain of oxygen atoms. e oxidation of one molecule is accompanied by the reduction of another. If an oxidation involves the loss of two electrons, a reduction involves the gain of two electrons.
