ABSTRACT

In this chapter we introduce finer tools from representation theory (in characteristic 0), in order to gain even more precise information about the nature of polynomial identities. In particular, we refine some of the results of Chapter 3 on F [Sn]-modules (also called Sn-modules ). Our main objective is to bring in GL-representations and use them to investigate homogeneous identities, in parallel to our earlier study of multilinear identities via Sn-representations.
