ABSTRACT
It may seem a diffi cult task to write about peanut genome structure when the sequencing of the entire DNA sequence genome is imminent (The International Peanut Genome Initiative-IPGI) (https://www. peanutbioscience.com). At present, we know only a restricted amount of DNA sequence and what is known is yet unordered and unanchored. Fortunately however, many broad features of the peanut genome are already apparent, and the knowledge of these features will be of help to put into context and even to generate, assemble and order an entire genome sequence.
