ABSTRACT

The logic of modeling data with logistic regression changes very little when more predictors are added to a model. The basic logistic regression formula we displayed becomes more meaningful when there is more than one predictor in a model. Equation 3.1 below expresses the relationship of each predictor to the predicted linear predictor, ′xi β, or ηi. It is more accurate to symbolize the predicted linear predictor as ηˆi or as ′xi β, but we shall not employ the hat symbol on η or β for ease of interpretation, as we have done so for the predicted probability, ˆ .µ We shall remember from the context that the expression is predicted or estimated, and not simply given as raw data.
